Holiday Card to Hilo: Christmas Around the World! Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00pm, UH Hilo Performing Arts Center

holidaycardtohiloHilo Community Chorus will be participating in the UH Hilo holiday concert on Sunday December 11, 2016 at the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center, 342 W Kawili St, Hilo (click link to view location on Google Maps).

From the UH Hilo Performing Arts center website:  “Holiday traditions from around the world sparkle and shine in this concert celebrating the season. This annual holiday concert is a Hilo tradition, bringing families together each year to hear Christmas favorites, new songs of the season, and special guest artists. This year the concert travels the world to showcase seasonal traditions from near and far. Mele Kalikimaka!”

Featuring the UH Hilo Kapili Choir and University Chorus under the direction of Amy Horst,the Orchid Isle Orchestra under the direction of Cathy Young, the Hilo Community Chorus under the direction of Tom McAlexander, and VOICES, directed by Mark Sheffield. The singers will be supported by Walter Greenwood on piano, Armando Mendoza on trumpet, and Chelsea Pacheco on percussion.

University Christmas Concert “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” Sunday, Dec 13, 2015, 2 PM, UH Hilo Performing Arts Center

On Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 2:00 PM, volunteers from the Hilo Community Chorus will participate in the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s annual Christmas Concert.

This year’s concert is titled “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and will include performances by the UH Hilo Kapili Choir and University Chorus under the direction of Amy Horst, the Orchid Isle Orchestra under the direction of Cathy Young, the Hilo Community Chorus under the direction of Tom McAlexander, and the Mountain View Elementary Chorus under the direction of Jennifer Tsuji.  There will also be a special appearance by Santa and Mrs Claus.  Tickets prices range from $7 (advance student) to $25 (general admission, day of show) and can be ordered by phone at (808) 932-7490 or online at arts center.uhh.hawaii.edu.

The Hilo Community Chorus will perform 3 songs independently, and join the University Chorus for additional songs.

Christmas Cantata at Christ Lutheran Church, Sunday December 13, 2015, 10:30 AM

home-imageOn Sunday, December 13, 2015 at 10:30 AM, volunteers from the Hilo Community Chorus will join the Christ Lutheran Church choir to reprise Joseph Martin’s “Ceremony of Candles” Christmas cantata.  The general public is welcome to attend the service, which will include open communion. There is no admission fee.

Veterans Day Ceremony, 3 PM, Wednesday November 11, 2015, Kilauea Military Camp

On Wednesday November 11, at 3 PM, volunteers from the Hilo Community Chorus will provide music for the Kilauea Military Camp’s Veterans’ Day Ceremony in Volcano HI.

A buffet lunch  following the service at KMC Crater Rim Cafe is free for all veterans, and is also available for purchase by general attendees and non-veteran chorus members.

It is a “Fee Free Day” at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park so park entrance fees are waived to all.
